I saw you
Grow into a beautiful young woman
Full of life and passion
I see your zeal to live life
Your unflinching spirit
And a compassionate heart.
But I have a fear
The fear that someone will break
Your fragile heart
I wish I could hold you in my arm
To protect you like a precious egg
Eggs are protected by the outer shell
I wish I could be a shell around
To protect you from falling
From the cold weather
Form the carnivorous creatures
From the wolves parading the streets
I wish I could protect you from your own fears
But, oh yes!
I know your spirit of love
Will protect you
Your persistence
Will pull you through
And I will proudly see you at the top.
