LONELY

Lonely I came
Lonely I am
Wandering in the wilderness alone
Searching for a partner
But can find none

No mother! No father! No brother!
No friend! No comforter! No helper!
Is there a future
For the lonely

Grief and sorrow!
Have dressed me in
Their tattered and wretched garments
When I look up
The sun spits on me
The skies frown at me
And the moon laughs at me

Trees shed off their leaves
So that I have no shade
The earth dries up
For fear that I will
Drink from its water bodies

Is there anyone
Who cares for the lonely?
For how shall the lonely
Have a partner!
